DEEP DIVE INTO GOD’S WORD BIBLE STUDY
Have you opened the Bible to read it and found it overwhelming? No worries, most people find it so. The Sunday-morning INTRODUCTION TO THE BIBLE class seeks to address this problem! Introduction to the Bible is an introductory level course to understanding the most important and influential book of all times – the Bible. This class would help both: those that are new to the Bible (have no background in the Bible), and those that have some knowledge about the Bible. We would be exploring major themes and concepts of the Bible: for example, the character of God, the revelation of Christ, the response of the people of God to God, and so on. The key to understanding the Old Testament is the history of Israel – so the study of the OT is divided historically: pre-monarchial period; the times of the kings; the exile; and the post-exilic period. The study of the New Testament centers around Christ: the earthly life of Christ in the Gospels; the beginnings of the Church in Acts; the growth, development, and challenges of the church of Christ in the rest of the New Testament. The goals for this class are at least threefold: to provide an overview of the contents of the Bible; to provide Christians a strong foundation to read and understand the Bible; and to create a love for the Bible and the God of the Bible. ABOUT PASTOR PHILIP
For over 26 years, Pastor Philip Thompson has been the senior pastor of Victory Church in Waupaca, Wisconsin. Under Pastor Philip’s leadership, the Church has had a significant impact on the community, with a main campus of over 500 members, a satellite campus of over 100 in an adjacent city, and a thriving Spanish congregation. He is a superb bilingual speaker, the son missionaries to Latin America. He graduated with a Master of Arts Degree in Organizational Leadership from Crown College, Minnesota, and an undergraduate degree in Theology from International Bible College in San Antonio, Texas. He is passionate about helping people discover who they are in Christ…when people learn what God has specifically designed them for, it gives meaningful purpose to their life.
